Langtang Valley Trek is one of the easiest treks in the Himalayas in Nepal that explores the myths and legends thriving in the Langtang Valley. During the Langtang Valley Trek 11 Days, you will get to live a typical mountain lifestyle. Situated north of Kathmandu, Langtang Valley Trekking is known for its easy trekking route and dominating Langtang Himalayas. The trail winds through lush forests of rhododendron and bamboo, passing by lovely waterfalls, picturesque villages, and crossing thrilling suspension bridges.

After breakfast, meet with your tour guide and get ready to explore some of Nepal's old historic sites like Boudhnath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Later, you will meet with the trek and prepare for the trek.

Syabrubesi is the starting point of the trek in Langtang valley. To reach, you will take a long drive from Kathmandu. During the drive, you can see clear views of the Ganesh Himal and other mountains.

Today is the first day of the trek. You will begin trekking along the Bhote Koshi River and Langtang Khola. The trail crosses thrilling suspension bridges and passes by landslide area to Bamboo (1,960 m). Further, you will reach Ramche (2,400 m) and continue trekking through dense forests to Lama Hotel.

From Lama Hotel, you will trek following the Langtang River. The route offers stunning views of Langtang Lirung. You will reach Ghoda Tabela (3,000 m) and stop for lunch. Further, passing by the checkpoint, you walk through pastureland and ascend to the beautiful Langtang village.

The day begins early with a tasty breakfast and a heartwarming landscape. Leaving Langtang village, you will pass by Sindum and Yamphu. The trail crosses a few thrilling suspension bridges over Laja Khola and steeply ascends to Kyanjin Gompa.

You will wake up early in the morning and go on a hike to Kyanjin Ri to witness breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayan mountains. The route to Kyanjin Ri is trodden and steep, so walk slowly. This hike will also acclimatize your body. Later in the day, you will visit the ancient monastery and a cheese factory.

After having a warm breakfast, you will begin descending towards Lama Hotel. The trail follows the same path as before. Crossing multiple suspension bridges and villages, you will trek through dense forests to reach Lama Hotel.

Continue walking on a downhill trail through lush forests of rhododendron, oak, fir, pine, etc. It's the same path as before. The views along the trail will be fantastic.

Today, you will drive back to Kathmandu. Enjoy a remaining day in Kathmandu exploring Thamel and buying souvenirs. In the evening, the company will organize a small farewell dinner to congratulate you for a successful trek in the Himalayas and bid you the last goodbye.

    How difficult is Langtang Trek?

    Langtang Valley Trek Nepal is an easy to moderate level trek. Anyone can do this trek regardless of their age and experience. The trek can get a little difficult for beginner trekkers because of the long walking hours and remoteness of the region, however with proper preparation and guidance, there will be no issues.

    Langtang Valley Trek distance

    From Syabrubesi to Kyanjin Gompa and back to Syabrubesi involves around 65 kilometers of walking. Likewise, the drive between Kathmandu and Syabrubesi is 145 km respectively from both sides.

    Langtang Valley Trek route

    The Langtang Valley Trek route has its fair share of ascents and descents. You will be trekking in the Langtang National Park, so most part of the trail goes through dense forests and pastures. The terrain has a handful of steep, rugged, and landslide-prone areas too. You have to walk 5 to 6 hours on average daily. The limited facilities and remote Langtang region also make the trek difficult.

    Altitude Sickness

    Langtang Valley Trek 11 Days begins from 1,460 meters at Syabrubesi and ascends to 4,773 meters to Kyanjin Ri in four days, which is a huge gain in elevation in a short time. This change in altitude can risk trekkers to altitude sickness.

    Even though our Langtang Valley Trek itinerary has a great balance in elevation gain, we want you to be careful while trekking and look out for the symptoms of altitude sickness.

    • Infor your guide and spend the night at a lower elevation if you see any symptoms like difficulty in breathing, insomnia, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, etc.
    • Do not ascend more than 500 meters in a day.
    • Drink at least 2 liters of water daily during the trek.
    • Avoid alcohol or smoking.

    Training for the Langtang Valley Trek

    To prepare for the Langtang Valley Trekking, you can go on a few hikes. Similarly, cardio activities like swimming, cycling, and running are also good options to increase your stamina. As you have to walk long hours during the Langtang Valley Trek 11 Days, focus on getting used to walking long hours then distance while preparing for the trek.

    You will need a Langtang National Park entry permit and TIMS Card to go on Langtang Valley Trek. We arrange all the permits for our guests in advance.

    Best time to go on Langtang Valley Trek

    To get the best trekking experience in the Langtang Valley, go on trekking in spring (March to April) or autumn (October to November). The stable weather, clear sky, and moderate climate will make the Langtang Valley Trek phenomenal. The trail gets especially beautiful with blooming flowers and verdant trees in the spring. The temperature ranges between 18°C to 5°C.

    Accommodation & Food

    Langtang Trek is a guesthouse trek. It means you will stay overnight in the houses of locals along the trail. The rooms are clean and small, with a private/common washroom. The services in the guesthouse are simple, and you might have to pay a few extra bucks to use a hot shower, WiFi, or charging stations.

    Langtang Trek package has three meals a day, breakfast, lunch & dinner. The meals are served as per the menu of the guesthouse. You will get a good variety of dishes. Likewise, drinking water is available in all the guesthouses and tea shops along the way to refill.

    FAQs

    • Q1. Can we trek the Langtang Trek without a guide?

      Yes, you can trek in the Langtang region without a trek. As this part of Nepal is not a restricted area, there is no prohibition on trekking alone whatsoever. However, book the accommodation in advance as the guest houses tend to get full packed in the peak season. Be careful while trekking and walk slowly.

    • No, you can get an ATM lounge available along the trekking trail of the Langtang region. So, better withdraw cash in Kathmandu for your trek.

    • Travel insurance is not necessary for Langtang Valley Trek. However, because you are trekking in a remote area, unexpected incidents may occur, and travel insurance will help you get medical assistance immediately in case of any accidents.

    • You may get WiFi service in some of the guesthouses along the route. However, the network will not be stable and reliable all the time. And you may have to pay a few extra bucks to use the service.

    • You can buy a Langtang trek permit in Kathmandu at the Nepal Tourism Board Office on Pradarshani Marg.

    • We offer an 11 days Langtang trek. You can also do the Langtang Valley trek in 5 to 7 days.

    • You can get on the bus to Syabrubesi or Dhunche from Kathmandu from the Machhapokhari bus stop in the morning.

    • The fare of the local bus from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi is Nrs 850. As a foreigner, you may have to pay a little higher price.

    • We will provide you with a packing list to prepare for the trek. In general, you will need base layer clothing, trekking clothes, a down jacket, fleece, trekking poles, sleeping bag, trekking boots, an extra pair of hiking shoes/slippers, socks, gloves, sun hat, sunglasses, day pack, trekking map, toiletries, reusable water bottle, etc.

    • Yes, Langtang Trek is safe to do. In the peak season, you will come across fellow trekkers on the way. The locals are friendly, and the crime rate is almost zero. If you are trekking alone, then be careful of the terrain and don't get lost.
