Say hello to our airport representative at the airport. He will escort you to the hotel we have booked for you. Depending upon your landing time, you will have time to relax before meeting the rest of the team members in the evening at welcome dinner.

We have planned a guided sightseeing tour of the famous monuments in Kathmandu in the morning. The tour will be very insightful and introduce you to Nepali art and architecture. Some of the places you will visit are Swayambhunath, Boudhnath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Later, meet with the trek guide and prepare for the trek.

To reach the starting point of the trek, you will take a short flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara in the morning. From Pokhara, you will drive for an hour to reach Kande. From here, the trek begins towards Deurali. After walking for one and half hours, you will reach Australian Camp at 2,100 meters. Further, the trail ascends through Pothana and leads you to Deurali for the night stay.

Today, you will leave the Annapurna Sanctuary and join an off-beaten path to Mardi Himal Base camp. The route ascends along the dense forest of oak, rhododendron, maple, and hemlock. You will trek for around four hours to reach Forest Camp, also known as Kokar. From here, the trail climbs to Low Camp. You will notice a change in vegetation as you get closer to the Low Camp.

From Low Camp, the trail ascends through lush rhododendron forests for one and half hours to reach Middle Camp. Further, you will reach Badal Danda that offers breathtaking views of Machhapuchhre, Mardi Himal, Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, and Gangapurna. Continue trekking along the Mardi Himal ridge and reach High Camp to spend the night.

Today, you will begin trekking in the dawn and reach the Mardi Himal Base Camp to witness a beautiful sunrise and striking mountain views. The trail to the base camp follows a steep, grassy path. Along the way, you may come across herder's huts. The views of Mt. Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Mt. Hiunchuli are phenomenal. After spending some time at the base camp, you will descend to Low Camp to spend the night.

Follo downhill route to Siding village, after breakfast. The trail descends through a forested path, passing by small streams and waterfalls. In Siding village, you will stay overnight in the local's house and get to see the rural mountain lifestyle.

Leaving Siding village, you will walk on the well-made path to Lumre. The trail passes through villages like Kalimati and Ghalel. From Lumre, you will drive back to Pokhara. Enjoy the evening exploring Phewa Lake and Lakeside Market.

Today, you will get a full day to explore the City of Lakes, Pokhara. Wake up early and drive to Sarangkot to witness a glorious sunrise and an aerial view of the city. This place is also very famous for Paragliding. Later, visit tourist sites like the International Mountain Museum, Bat Cave, Davi's Falls, etc.

We will fly back to Kathmandu, enjoying spectacular mountains and hills views. The rest of the day is free in Kathmandu. You can go shopping and relax in cafes around Thamel. There are also nice spas and salons to pamper yourself after the trek. Keep your evening free for a few hours to join the farewell dinner.

It is the last day in Kathmandu. You will take a flight back to your home today. Our airport representative will drop you at the airport.

Altitude Sickness

Some of the early symptoms of altitude sickness are difficulty in breathing, headache, loss of appetite, insomnia, nausea, etc. We strongly advise you to inform your guide right away if you see any of the above symptoms.

Below are some precautions you can take to stay away from altitude sickness during Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek:

  • Never drink alcohol or smoke while high altitude trekking because it dehydrates the body, which can lead to altitude sickness.
  • The next point is of course to keep yourself hydrated. Drink plenty of water and fluids daily.
  • Eat a balanced diet to maintain energy. Do not solely rely on chocolate/energy bars.
  • Carry prescribed medicine for headache, body pain, cold, etc.
  • Take ample rest while trekking and remember to climb high, sleep low rule.
